The Winners of Angkasa Pura Airports Innovation Competition 2016 Visited Malaysia Airport

JAKARTA - The winners of Angkasa Pura Airports Innovation Competition in 2016 got an opportunity to follow the airport benchmarking to neighboring country, Malaysia, Thursday (7/9/2017). They visited two airports, namely Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) 2 and Penang International Airport.

"This activity is a form of appreciation to the winners of Innovation Competition last year. The Innovation Competition was attended by 24 teams, both from the central office and the branch office of Angkasa Pura Airports. In the contest the participants were required to prepare papers and posters about ideas or innovations that can provide added value for the company,"said by Organization Development and Change Management Department Head of Angkasa Pura Airports Doni Asriyadi.

As a result, as many as six ideas and innovations assessed by the jury worthed entering the final round to present their ideas or innovations. Then right at the peak of Angkasa Pura Airports' 53rd birthday celebration on February 25, 2017 in Bogor, the winners of this race were announced. The first winner is E-QMS Team from Branch Office Juanda Surabaya, 2nd Winner is E-Nodin Team from Head Office, and 3rd Winner is taken by E-Asset Team from Branch Office I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali.

"These three teams are entitled to benchmark Malaysia and additional value points of Performance Management System (PMS)," Doni added.

Benchmarking activities in Malaysia were conducted at two different airports within the same day, so the visits were divided into two teams. The first team led by Doni Asriyadi benchmarked KLIA 2, while the second team led by Hary Budi Waluyo (Training Management Department Head) visited Penang International Airport.

In KLIA 2, Terminal Operations Manager of KLIA 2 Shaiful Bin Abdul Rahman explained about the infrastructure and business processes available at the airport with a capacity of 45 million passengers per year. "Currently KLIA 2 serves 25.5 million passengers per year and 55 airlines," Shaiful said. Benchmarking participants also visited to the airport and saw some airport support facilities that were enough to pamper passengers. One of them was KLIA Express, a train that passengers use to move from KLIA2 to KL Central and vice versa.

While the second team who visited Penang, accepted by Malaysia Airport, the manager of Penang International Airport. "The problems faced by airports in Malaysia and Indonesia are actually similar, from the problem of airport capacity that has been over to the culture of the community that sometimes has not been orderly.
