Holding The 94th PKD, Pattimura Ambon International Airport Made Sure The Operational Was Uninterrupted

AMBON - To increase the alertness of personnel and facilities in welcoming the airport service users, especially local and foreign tourists who will visit tourist spots in Ambon, Angkasa Pura Airports, Pattimura Airport, Ambon, held an Emergency Prevention Exercise (PKD) on Thursday (16/11/2017). This 94th PKD exercise series included Fire Building Exercise, Aircfraft Accident Exercise, Airport Security Threats, one of which is the handling of Riot or Demonstration at Airport area (security exercise).

Exercises that were held close to the actual situation, in the scenario of the practice of handling aircraft accidents for example, it was reported that Morela Air plane, type aircraft Boeing 737-900 with flight number MRL 094 Route Sorong - Ambon at position 20 NM emergency i.e. machine number 2 (two) burning so pilots contacted ATC Patimura Ambon and requested Assistance on arrival. The next tower conveyed to Airport Rescue & Fire Fighting and runway which was used was runway 22. At the time of the aircraft the final position of runway 22 engine number 2 was seen issuing a cloud of black smoke and the plane continues the landing process, after the plane landed on the runway suddenly the swing plane right and burning. General Manager of Pattimura International Airport as the chairman of the Airport Emergency Committe (AEC), immediately activated the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) until the conditions were declared normal. The flow of communication and information was carried out in accordance with the procedures set forth in the document of Airport Emergency Plan (AEP) Pattimura International Airport. The number of passengers from the airline's manifest data was known to be 112 people and 5 crew of aircraft, resulting in 18 deaths, 33 seriously injured, 15 moderate injuries and 41 minor injuries. All victims were handled in accordance with the procedures for handling victims.

The exercise involved at least 700 joint personnel from Angkasa Pura Airports, TNI AU Lanud Pattimura, Perum LPPNPI Branch of Pattimura, the First Class Immigration Office of Maluku, the Maluku Customs and Excise Control and Service Office, the local security, government, and hospital agencies, other.

Not only testing the handling during emergency, PKD training also test post-event handling, such as handling to victim's family through simulation of greeters meeters and handling media through simulation of media handling activity.

Every two years, every airport managed by Angkasa Pura Airports carries out PKD exercises. Implementation of the 94th PKD at Pattimura International Airport, Ambon was the last PKD held in 2017 after it was previously held at Syamsudin Noor Airport in October, Adisutjipto International Airport in July, Lombok International Airport, Praya in May and Sultan Hassanudiin Airport Makassar in March.
