Securing Illegal Weapons At Makassar Airport, Angkasa Pura Airports Consistent To Keep Flight Safety And Security

Jakarta, 31 December 2017 - On Saturday (30/12) at 11.00 WITA, Aviation Security (Avsec) officer of Sultan Hasanuddin Airport Makassar secured a packet of cargo shipment containing sharpbullet as much as 97 unit destination to Jayapura using delivery service Pos Indonesia by Lion Air JT 798.

Package as many as 7 coli was secured because the cargo packet information information was not in accordance with the contents of the actual goods. On the cargo package information was written that the package contains drugs, food, clothing, and toys. While after review, the package contains 97 sharp bullets. The package containing the bullet was handed over to Sultan Hasanuddin Airport Sector Police for further investigation.

"Avsec Angkasa Pura Airports officers are always vigilant in checking all passengers and items going into the aircraft The discovery and security of cargo packs containing these unlicensed bullets is a form of commitment of Angkasa Pura Airports to always maintain the security and safety of flight according to applicable Standard Operating Procurement," said by Corporate Secretary Angkasa Pura Airports, Israwadi.

The chronology of the security events of the packets containing the bullets are:

  1. At 10.30 WITA, officer of PT Pos Indonesia was delivering cargo of 7 koli via Lion Air of Jayapura destination with PTI information containing medicine, food, clothing and toys.
  2. At 10.35 WITA, the cargo was weighed and directly inputted into Sitec for the issuance of the Goods Weighted Evidence.
  3. At 10.40 WITA, suspected cargo was loaded into an X-ray machine for inspection by Avsec Airport officers.
  4. At 10:55 WITA, Avsec Airport officers suspecting the package asked officers of PT Pos Indonesia to open the package and perform manual checks. Once in open, it turned out the package contains of sharpbullet as much 97 units.
  5. At 11.00 WITA, the goods were then reported and secured for further data collection, and obtained information that:
  1. The number of bullets contained in the package was 97 units.
  2. The Sender Data came from Pondok Batari Makassar City.
  3. The recipient was addressed at Nimborang, Jayapura, Papua.
  4. The cargo plan will be sent by Lion Air JT-798 to Jayapura.

     6. At 13:35 WITA, after the data was collected, the item was then tidied up again and secured while waiting for the officer of the airport area commission for the handover process of the goods for further investigation.
